At Shoes by Shaherazad, we're extremely focussed on the empowerment of women and believe that the world is a place where absolutely everyone can become a success and live a happy and fulfilling life. A life where "happily ever after" is also about "equally ever after".

When the award winning writer, Kiran Millwood Hargrave, logged on to www.shaherazad.com and bought a pair of Mulberry Red "Equally Ever After" heels for her wedding we were absolutely delighted. Kiran's recent books have taken the literary world by storm and the team at Shoes by Shaherazad have been entranced by "The Girl of Ink & Stars" and "The Island at the End of Everything". These are books which are not only a pleasurable and thought provoking read in themselves, but the stories and the characters are unforgettable. Long after you've finished reading the books, key passages and moments from both stories come and wrap themselves in to your thoughts, forcing you to think about the characters and the issues they speak of all over again. Empowerment is a strong theme throughout both of the books which feature strong and thoughtful heroines.

A few weeks ago Kiran had her own Equally Ever After when she married Tom. She was kind enough to send us photos of her wearing Shoes by Shaherazad on her special day. We think that she looks absolutely gorgeous from top to #18hourheels toe and are delighted that Kiran selected the aptly named "Equally Ever After" heels.
The profits from the heels which Kiran bought have directly supported a young girl in Peru to gain critical literacy skills so that a life as unpaid domestic help can eventually become a thing of the past for young girls living in poverty. Kiran: a big thank you for your wonderful stories, your support for women and girls, for wearing our heels on your wedding day and sharing the gorgeous photographs. And also for being a true believer in empowering women. You are a real life example of why we do not need miracles to change the world, we only need each other.
